Test Conclusion

Well
With Far Cry 6 Ubisoft is increasingly reaching the limits of its perfected over the years open-world formula. The first-person shooter makes on paper little obviously wrong, but now seems overloaded and has become more distant from the origins of the series than ever before. It is especially very unfortunate that the story and especially dictator Antón Castillo in the noise of the game world Yara perish so. Thanks to the art of acting by Giancarlo Esposito could have become of him an outstanding game villain. But if he remains in the midst of hostage kidnappings, too pale to infiltration of camps and all sorts of other skirmishes. Far Cry 6 is to banish ultimately a versatile and especially extensive open-world shooter, where it is possible but much too rarely the seriousness of the situation and the drama on the screen. Instead, the Revolution became a playground for action fans will. As entertaining pastime is Far Cry 6 therefore certainly were, however, more narrative to use, the direct predecessor or part 3 and provided on top of that a denser atmosphere.

Far Cry has always been a game series of extremes. In the early days of the first-person shooter came up trumps with its giant for its time game world. With finally done Far Cry 3 the combination of Ubisoft s open-world formula and crazy-oversubscribed main characters. The last part of the fifth scored 2018 test yet with his madcap Hillbilly scenario and generous action gameplay. Far Cry 6 goes a few new ways but builds from the trodden paths in the predecessor and provides even greater game world. But is that enough for the developers of Ubisoft to land another action hit?
Viva la revolución!
Far Cry 6 plays on the reminiscent of Cuba Caribbean island Yara. The once poor country is swimming in money. The reason: the miracle plant synthetic Viviro - an effective antidote against cancer. Dictator Antón Castillo writes to the flag to lead Yara back to glory and go for it over corpses. It forces the residents to work on the Viviro fields, knowing that the substances used there to make people sick.
Castillo s brutal recruiting and his harsh regime cause a stir among the residents Yara. The people flee or join the resistance. You take on the role of Dani Rojas - either as a male or female character. Dani wants to get off the island, but makes the crossing acquaintance with Antón Castillo. Unlike the other passengers, the main character survives of Far Cry 6 the attack, however, and then passes from the local resistance fighters.
Far Cry 6 opens its game world relatively quickly and gives you a corresponding number of freedoms. Yara turns out to be beautiful island world that comes enormous colorful and varied just in daylight. Compared to its predecessor just the vegetation acts again in more detail. The sight have increased the developers of Ubisoft. In the tested version of COMPUTER BILD 5 for the PlayStation game also benefits from the shortened loading times, so quick trips really worthy of the name.
The Mandalorian star as the villain
Since Far Cry 3 Ubisoft s shooter series is characterized by a nasty, mostly crazy villains in a prominent position. In the case of Far Cry 6 the famous actor Giancarlo Esposito plays the role of dictator Antón Castillo. Esposito was known, among other things by the hit series Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian and mimes the ruthless autocrat with a lot of charisma and expression. Especially the relationship with the 13-year-old son Diego, who so did not want to come to his father, makes for some eye-opening moments.
Unfortunately, however, the story and characters in Far Cry 6 are not as present as in the predecessors. An excessive game world and too many tattered narrative strands complicate the immersion in the story, so the big moments go too often in the pure mass. And much too fast will you step as guerrillas of the rebel group Libertad and hurry from one client to the next. Really time for the character development, Far Cry 6 hardly takes. The balance between transigned figures such as the ever-drunk weapon specialist Juan Cortez and his crocodile budary Guapo and the serious scenario succeeds much too rare.
Typical Far Cry
Playfully, Far Cry 6 remains faithful to his predecessors. So you expect grabbingly staged main missions such as the storms of two freighters or burning a tobacco plantation at the beginning of the game. There are also typical open-world missions, including conquering toll stations, taking camps as well as smaller skirmishes like the convoys attack. As crazy sidelines among other things, as the fighting game Tekken wait conditioned cockfights on you.
The action experience often leaves you in the choice of whether you sneak or would like to be aggressive. Seizetreter first scan the environment and learn to know strengths and weaknesses of enemies - this procedure is already known from previous offshoots. As a Schleich shooter, Far Cry 6 works neat, even though the computer guards always allow for carvers and discover Dani often too late.
Offensively, however, they act stronger. Especially when the hench alarm strolls and reinforcement, a dozen and more opponents are quickly on the battlefield. The soldiers take cover and try to attack down the flanks. Consequently, the skirmishes are demanding and force even the occasional tactical retreat.
Weapons kit for improvisation artist
Far Cry 6 gives you more toys in the fight against Castillo s army than ever at hand. The most important innovation is the so-called Supremos. These are backpacks that give their character special abilities such as targeted missiles or an EMP blow. His main motivation refers Far Cry 6 from the character and weapon system. In the gameplay you will always find new ballermen and equip them to workbands with separate and other extras.
Especially the various types of ammunition play an important role, because your opponents have resistances to certain floors. Away from the normal canons Far Cry 6 also with so-improv weapons like the funky discos Locos waiting for. This special cannon fires knife-sharp CDs on your enemies! In addition, there are equipment objects such as gloves, amulets or tops. Far Cry 6 is even more towards the role-playing game than former series parts and unfortunately acts pretty overloaded.
Similarly conflicts, Ubisoft presents the so-called Amigos. These animal companions such as Alligator Guapo or Dog Chorizo support them in the missions, but sometimes act - similar to the opponent and companion-ki - very strange. Much too often they indicate fights or do not get after. The Amigos are therefore being a funny idea, but during the island adventure of limited use.
Release: Far Cry 6 appears on October 7 2021 for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S and PC. The price is 55 euros for the PC version and up to 70 euros for the console variant for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.
